Dear Friends,

I am pleased to announce that Sacred Heart School and Church have been gifted with a new gym structure to be built in our new parking lot at the intersection of Fourth and Dickenson.

This project is a gift. The project will require no funding from the church or diocese. The structure will be a steel frame building, 50’x75’accommadating a 40’x60’gym floor, entrance space, and rest rooms.

The new building is made possible through the generous personal gift of Mr. Don Blankenship, as well as donated services and material from numerous sources.
Preliminary site work will begin soon. Once the work begins parking will be prohibited until construction is completed.

We thank Almighty God, Mr. Blankenship, and all those involved for making this major contribution possible.

Let us continue to work together for a better future as we celebrate our anniversary of school (50 years) and Parish (95 years)

Father Harry
The Rev. Harry Dunn, Pastor, and Sister Lillian Jordan, Principal at Sacred Heart Church and Grade School, share a joyful moment as they prepare for a new school year and the 50th anniversary of Sacred Heart School.
We begin the school with a real sense of excitement as we watch the construction of our new gym as well as new classroom improvements, high tech Smart Boards, computers, and textbooks.
Sister Lillian stated that the school emphasizes a strong academic program that challenges students to think, speak and act to the best of their God given abilities.
Our students are prepared to meet academic challenges through the experience of diverse teaching methods, the emphasis placed on reasoning and individual thinking, and the development of strong study skills.
Our teaching staff has a total of 129 years of teaching experience and all members are certified and have been trained in the Virus Program for Protection of Children.
Father Dunn stated that,"We believe that our school has the right people, with the right skills, at the right time, to do the job in educating your child."
We welcome student from all religious denominations and faiths, in grade levels Pre-School through sixth grade.
Kindergarten screening by appointment is $25.00

Father Dunn addresses Williamson Rotary Club

Williamson- The Rev. Harry Dunn, pastor of  the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Williamson, was the guest speaker at Tuesday's meeting of the Williamson Rotary Club. The church will celebrate its 95th anniversary this year, and Sacred Heart Grade School will also be celebrating its 50th school year. Father Dunn stated that the church has a serious obligation in working together for the good of the community. The school has 45 students this year. Because of the declining population in the area, it is a challenge for both private and public schools. The church has acquired the property on Fourth Avenue which was previously the old gas company, and plans are being made in conjunction with the Tug Valley Ministerial Association to open a community service center at this location. Father Dunn also noted that "blessings seem to flow," and that a new gym is being built thanks to the generosity of Don Blankenship. The gym will be an excellent addition to the current facility and will also offer a place for seniors to exercise. Father Dunn came to West Virginia 29 years ago from Hartford, Conn. He has been in the Williamson area for several years.
