WE BELIEVE:
SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
That every child is unique and valuable because of life given by God.

That every facet of life is important to the development of the whole person.
Spiritually, physically, intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

That if we have helped a person to become more human, more hopeful,
more able to believe in the ultimate value of life, we have prepared him or
her for life.

That one of the purposes of education is to improve the quality of life for all
people everywhere.

That it is our responsibility to challenge each member of our school
community to be self-directing -- to develop his or her potential in the trust
filled atmosphere of a Faith community.
MISSION:
The mission of Sacred Heart School, Williamson, is to ensure learning for all students, within the framework of
Gospel values, and consistent with their needs, interests, and abilities so that they will be able to live in the changing
world as responsible citizens. It is further to speak to good news of the presence of God in our community, through
the manner in which we regard people and ideas with respect and extend ourselves in service.

Joel F King, author of the recently published The Star-Spangled State Book a history/geography book about our United
States, is a 1979 graduate of Sacred Heart School. Convinced that you learn best and retain more when youre having fun,
Joel has created a colorful, engaging book and accompanying workbook, chuck full of illustrations along with interesting
information and facts just begging to be learned.
We're delighted to have autographed copies of both of Joel's books, gifts of the author in school. Joel is the son of Peggy
and Joe King, long time members of Sacred Heart Church. Joel is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and resides with
his wife and three boys in western Kentucky.

Aquinas Medal
Congratulations to Andrew Mullins who is this year’s recipient of the Aquinas Medal.
Andrew and his family traveled to Morgantown to receive the award at the Bishop’s
Dinner. The medal is awarded annually to a student in the highest grade in each
school of the Diocese who demonstrates the value of Catholic school education. The
medal was named for Saint Thomas Aquinas, a scholar and exemplary Christian who
lived during the middle ages.
